Lesson 4: Chocolate

It was our opportunity to teach, and we had twelve students in the classroom. In the first stage, teacher Roxana commenced the class with an activity to break the ice. She made two groups ,and it was drawn the word such as, milk, sugar, chocolate on the board and encourage their team to guess the word. Then, learners who have complete drawing it is  the winner. This helped to permit pupils interact with each other ; also, that can help to  enhance in a positive way the learning process of students in class.

In the pre-reading stage teacher Menjivar made two groups ,and he encourage with the target vocabulary. He  gave them some pictures  students had to guess and match  the meaning according to the pictures after this teacher presented the vocabulary and pronunciation ,and Ss had to find some words in a letter soup. This motivated pupils to  be competent and learn form their experiences.

This stage was taught by teaacher Mariana . She started to present four charts with differents tittles for the story students had only 50 seconds to choose the tittle of the story. Then; she made two teams according with the age of learners ,and they had to match pictures related to the events of the text. Teacher  Mariana gave them 40 seconds to read the text again ,and Ss had to discuss. This permitted  educators to know  how well and how much pupils learn the new information.

This post-reading was my turn to teach. I started to divide the class in two teams ,and i gave each student a piece of paper with a number from 1to 5 was the fist group and from 6 to 10 was second group. They played a game called " basketball" pupils had to make a line in front of the board if someone make a basket he or she does not answer any question ,but if someone do not make a basket he or she has to answer one question according with the text. This encouraged students to be more willing to participate and create critical thinking.

                  

 Finally, teacher roxana ended with an activity to show what their learned during the lesson. It  helped to maintain learners' concentration levels high , and this created  a safe climate in which pupils can express their different points of view.
