Practice 11 "Bart goes to school!"

This was our second time to teach ,but we had a challenge this time because children do not like to read and that was our challenge. We had to create a new strategy to involve children in reading , develop their comprehension  and create a way that they enjoy the reading. To start with the class, We gave some rules in the classroom such as; do not scream, no hitting, be quiet , listen , and we explained that they cannot scream because the traffic light will be in red and they will  be in the misbehaviour list. Students understood very good that point ; so that,  we started with the warm up , in that stage I was in charge ,so i divided the class in two teams and explained the activity called " basketball game" the person who do a basket will have a point for his or her group , but the student who does not a score he or she will not a point. Children liked this activity ,and they enjoyed it.

Then, teacher yansi presented the vocabulary of the story. She explained 5 new words one by one by giving examples ,and she asked to repeat as many times was necessary to have a good pronunciation. After that,  she asked the question What is this? to know if they understood the new vocabulary ; as a result, teacher catched the attetion of her students and they understood all of the words.

The during stage was performed by me. I pasted three questions on the board for the students, but to answer later , so i read those questions to encourage their read comprehension. Also,  i provided fo each students a cartoon story about "Bart goes to school" and  i explained that they had only three minutes to read. Some of them had a little difficulty to read that ,but fortunatly i tried to explain in a easy way for them, so they understood ; even though, they did not know so much about how to read cartoon story. After that, i asked to answer one of those questions , one of our students felt motivated to participate and he answered one question ,and also he read the story to clarify any doubt and he encourged all of his classmate to participate in that part.

Questions: 1-Where does Bart go? *He goes to school    *He goes to the bathroom 2-Does Bart want to go to school? *Yes, he wants to go   *No, he doesn’t want 3-What kind of things Bart doesn´t have? *Pencil, marker and backpack * Desk, scissor and board

The next stage teacher yansi put in practice that they had learned ,so she asked to stand up and make a line. the class was divided in two teams they played a memory game . Teacher Yansi explained the activity and gave an example how to play , she pasted on the board flashcards with numbers , and the other side had numbers ,so students had to guess the numbers and match them with the correct label. That was a good activity ,and  they liked it.

To conclude, teacher yansi said that they had to play the hot hat , and she explained that she will count to five and the person who has the hat she or he will say the word of the flashcard that teacher Yansi will show.
